Men’s Basketball Continues Scoring Streak In Big Win Against Penn Highlands

Prince George's men's basketball found themselves returning to action inside Novak Field House on Sunday December 8^th, less than 24 hours after their 125-61 rout of Butler County to face Pennsylvania Highlands Community College. The Owls enjoyed an offensive explosion the day prior and were hoping to replicate their performance against Pennsylvania Highlands Black Bears. The Owls come out slow to begin but ultimately did not disappoint as they again dominated their opponent, this time by a final score of 115-58 to improve to 7-4 on the year while Pennsylvania Highlands fell to 1-7.

Prince George's came out firing, looking like the same dominant team that had just played the day before with head coach William "Butch" West involving 12 of his 14 players in the first half as they built up a 39-27 lead at the half. The Black Bears were able to piece together a run at the end of the half to bring the score within reason before the Owls blew out Penn Highlands 76-31 in the second half. Three different Owls led the team in scoring with 18 points but it was freshman guard Tervondre Williams who stole the show, with all 18 of his points coming from beyond the arc on 60% shooting(6-10). Williams connected on five of his three-pointers in the second half alone, all of which came consecutively to score 15 straight points for Prince George's before sophomore Devin Hill finished the scoring for the Owls with a made layup in the 115-58 victory.

The Owls led for all but 1:56 of play as they shot a highly efficient 58.7% (44-75) from the field and a much improved 46.3% (19-41) from three point land. The Owls have at times struggled shooting throughout the year but had no problem connecting with their shots on Sunday. The Owls get some time off before they travel to face Anne Arundel Community College on Saturday, December 14^th for a Maryland JUCO showdown.
