Men’s Owls Finish 2019 With Comeback Win Over Hocking College

Prince George's men's basketball returned to Novak Field House Saturday evening, December 20th to cap off the 2019 portion of their season and take on Hocking College. Trailing 41-38 at halftime, the Owls came from behind in the second half to earn an 84-78 victory. With the win, the Owls improve to 10-4 overall, including 3-3 MD JUCO while Hocking fell to 10-3.

Hocking's Hawks were able to build a bit of separation as they led 35-25 with 4:55 remaining in the first half. The Owls responded with a 6-0 run over the next 2 minutes and 31 seconds of play to cut into the Hawks lead. Hocking would eventually head into the break with a 41-38 lead. The Owls were led by sophomores Isaiah Miles and Tunde Scrivner with 9 points each at the break. 

Prince George's went on a 9-0 run minutes into the second half to go up 51-45 and reclaim the lead for the first time since the 11:55 mark in the first half. Hocking would come to within 2 points of the Owls but Prince George's was able to hold off the Hawks attempts to even the score, keeping the lead for the final 17:54 of action to secure the 84-78 victory. All five of the Owls starters scored atleast 10 points in the win, with Scrivner leading the way with 25. Scrivner added 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists as well.

Prince George's ends the 2019 side of their schedule with five straight wins and in good position within Region 20. The Owls return to action in the new year on the road against Hagerstown on January 4th.
