Strong Second Half Lifts Prince George’s Over Harford

Prince George's men's basketball returned to Novak Field House Wednesday night, December 18^th to take on conference opponent Harford Community College. Riding a three game winning streak, the Owls were able to take down Harford's Fighting Owls, 89-79 and improve to 9-4 overall including 3-3 MD JUCO while Harford fell to 4-7, 1-1.

An evenly matched first half allowed Harford to sneak into halftime with a narrow 37-36 lead after a pair of made free throws lifted the Fighting Owls over Prince George's with one second remaining before the break. Harford (53.6%) was shooting at a higher percentage than the Owls (44.1%) were from the floor at the break but Prince George's was able to involve more of their players which proved paramount in the second half. 

The two squads continued to battle neck and neck with multiple lead changes in the second half until Prince George's was able to distance themselves just enough as they led 72-64 with 7:43 remaining which forced Harford to speed up their game down the stretch. Harford was able to climb back to within one, bringing the score to 73-72 with 3:28 left to play. The Owls responded with a successful and-one from freshman Tervondre Williams which raised the team to their feet on the sideline as they cheered on Williams. Prince George's would close out the game hitting 7 of their 10 attempts from the free throw line as Harford attempted to comeback but the Owls were able to keep the game out of reach, securing the 89-79 victory. Freshman guard Carlos Dunn finished as the Owls top scorer, pouring in 17 points while adding 5 assists and three rebounds. Three other Owls also scored in double digits in the victory.

The win marks the fourth in a row for the Owls who will return home Friday evening, December 20^th to take on Hocking College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 pm.
