Men’s Basketball Falls To CCBC Dundalk

Prince George's men's basketball returned to Novak Field House for their first game action of the new year on Wednesday night, January 8th to take on conference opponent CCBC Dundalk. The Owls put themselves in good position as they ended 2019 with a five game winning streak but struggled against the Lions after nearly three weeks off, ultimately falling to Dundalk 89-69.

Prince George's started off with a successful and-one from David Burriss to jump out to a 3-0 lead but quickly found themselves down 15-6 just five minutes into the game. Playing from behind, the Owls kept pressure on the Lions and were able to tie the score at 31 with 4:21 remaining in the first half after a made three pointer from Jacob Long. Dundalk would respond with a 10-5 run to close out the half and send the Owls into halftime trailing 41-36.

The Owls continued to struggle shooting in the second half as they saw their deficit again increase to double digits. During the Owls comeback attempt, Dundalk found themselves in foul trouble with the second half was winding down which the Owls were able to exploit and forced the Lions to play with only four men after causing two of their players to foul out (Dundalk entered the contest with only six active players). Unfortunately the game was too far out of reach by the time the Owls were able to force the man up opportunity, falling to the Lions 89-69. The loss dropped the Owls to 10-5 on the season, including 3-4 in Maryland JUCO play.

The Owls again return to Novak Field House on Saturday, January 11th to take on the Community College of Allegheny County at 12 pm. Prince George's defeated the region 20 opponent earlier this season on Friday, November 8th in the Garrett Classic Tournament by a final score of 93-82.
