Men’s Basketball Receiving Votes in NJCAA Division III Rankings To Begin 2020

Prince George's men's basketball hits the hardwood for the first time in the new year tomorrow, January 8th when they host CCBC Dundalk inside Novak Field House at 7 pm. The Owls were on a roll before the break, winning five straight to bring their record to 10-4 overall. However, the Owls haven't had great success against conference opponents as they have posted just a 3-3 record against Maryland JUCO opponents but have a chance to improve upon that record when they take on CCBC Dundalk. Dundalk's Lions similarly have a 10-4 overall record including 2-1 in conference play.

Prince George's has been led by sophomore Tunde Scrivner who is averaging 21.3 points per game which currently ranks as the fourth best among MD JUCO scorers. Scrivner has been aided by center David Burris (tied-1st) and forward Isaiah Miles (4th) who both rank in the top five in field goal percentage on the season among MD JUCO shooters. The Owls recent hot streak has earned them votes in the most recent 2019-20 NJCAA Division III men's basketball rankings as they sit just outside of the top fifteen. The Owls are also the only NJCAA Division III men's institution from Maryland to appear in the rankings at the start of the new year.

Head Coach William "Butch" West will look to continue his team's recent winning streak and has a great opportunity to improve upon the Owls conference record as they have four Maryland JUCO opponents coming up in the month of January. Prince George's will tackle their upcoming opponents as they have all season- one game at a time starting with CCBC Dundalk tomorrow night.
