Chase's Career Night Helps Prince George's Past Baltimore City, 71-55

BALTIMORE, Md. – Kevin Chase (Hyattsville, Md./Henry Wise) notched a career-high in points and rebounds on his way to his first career double-double to help power Prince George's Community College past Baltimore City Community College 71-55  in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's basketball action on Wednesday.

Chase went 3-for-7 from the field, 1 of 2 from behind the arc and 3 of 3 from the free throw line to finish with a career-best 10 points. The freshman then hauled in five rebounds on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball to end with a personal-best 10 boards for his first collegiate double-double. Chase's previous best performance was seven points and eight rebounds against Westmoreland County Community College on Dec. 8.

Alex Morales (Paterson, N.J./Manchester Regional) paced the Owls (14-2, 6-2 MD JUCO) with 19 points and 13 rebounds. The MD JUCO Athlete of the Month of December, has now posted double-doubles in five-straight games and six of his last seven. The sophomore has reached double figures in points in all 16 tilts this season and 10 times in rebounds. Morales leads the team with 19.6 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.

Tunde Scrivner (Washington, D.C./H.D. Woodson) added 15 points and seven rebounds. Scrivner has reached double figures in points in 15 of the 16 games this season and has scored at least 15 points 10 times this season. The seven caroms is a career high and marks the seventh time this season the freshman has grabbed at least five boards in a game. He ranks second on the team with 16.3 points per game.

Moetaz Ashkar (Landover Hills, Md./Parkdale) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for his second career double-double after registering 14 points and 13 rebounds against Westmoreland County. It is the fourth time this season he has scored 10 points and fifth time in his career while his 10-rebound performance is the second of his career.

Dexter Turner (Washington, D.C./Idea Charter School) dished out a career-high 15 assists, marking the fifth time this season he has posted double figures in dimes. He leads the team with 7.6 assists per game.

Prince George's grabbed a 28-25 lead after the first half and then pulled away in the final frame with a 43-30 second half for a 71-55 victory.

The Owls earned their first win in the regular season against the Panthers for the first time since the 2013-14 season, but the Largo team's last win in the series was a 63-62 victory thanks to a last-second shot by Morales in the 2017 MD JUCO Tournament Championship Game to claim then title.

Prince George's returns to action on Friday at home against Anne Arundel Community College. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
