Another Day, Another Alex Morales Triple-Double, Another Win For Prince George's Men's Basketball

PITTSBURGH, Pa.- If you read the headline for today's Prince George's men's basketball game, you might think you are reading yesterday's paper or New York Yankees Hall of Famer Yogi Berra might utter the words "Its déjà vu all over again" because Alex Morales (Paterson, N.J./Manchester Regional) recorded a triple-double to lead the Owls to a win in Western Pennsylvania for the second-straight day. Prince George's defeated CCAC Allegheny 112-75 in National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX action on Wednesday.

Morales posted 18 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists to notch his second-straight triple-double and third of his career. The sophomore had 16 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in an 86-46 victory against CCAC Boyce on Tuesday. He shot 7-for-10 from the floor, 1 of 3 from behind the arc and 3 of 3 from the charity stripe.

Morales now has two triple-doubles and seven double-doubles this season and three triple-doubles and 18 double-doubles for his career. It marks the third time in his career that he has registered double figures in assists and the 21st time he has hauled in at least 10 boards in a game. The sophomore has posted double figures in all 13 games this season and 30 of the 38 games in his career. Morales leads the squad with 18.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.

Dexter Turner (Washington, D.C./Idea Public Charter) posted 17 points, seven assists and four steals. The sophomore has reached double figures in points in each of his last seven games and is averaging 16.6 points per game in that span. The sophomore has 10 double-figure point games this season and 11 in his career. Turner is averaging 12.5 points and 7.2 assists per game this year.

Dariel Medina (Silver Spring, Md./James H. Blake) notched a career-high 15 points thanks to connecting on all five of his shots from behind the arc. It was the sophomore's second double-figure point performance this season and fourth of his career.

Tunde Scrivner (Washington, D.C./H.D. Woodson) posted 14 points. The freshman has scored double figures in all 13 games and ranks second on the team with 17.2 points per game.

Darren Rivers (District Heights, Md./DuVal) and Jalen Robinson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) each registered 10 points. One day after grabbing 10 rebounds, Rivers reaches double figures in points for the fourth time in the last five games and sixth time in his career. The sophomore is averaging 10.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in his last five tilts. There must be something about a game before an upcoming holiday for Robinson, who scored 11 points at CCBC Dundalk in the game before Thanksgiving on Nov. 20.

Moetaz Ashkar (Landover Hills, Md./Parkdale) tallied eight points and six rebounds. The sophomore has scored at least eight points four times in 2018-19 including a pair of 10-point games.

Winners of its last nine games, Prince George's will be on hiatus to celebrate the holiday and ring in the New Year. The Owls return to the hardwood at home against the College of Southern Maryland on Jan. 4. Game time is 7 p.m.
