 Prince George's begins its quest for back-to-back Maryland JUCO Men's Basketball Championships on Friday when it faces top seed Harford to conclude the day of MD JUCO Tournament Quarterfinals. The Fighting Owls defeated the Owls in a thrilling 98-93 overtime decision nine days ago. Last year, Harford won the regular season meeting only to see Prince George's take the MD JUCO tilt in the semifinals on its way to the title.

maryland juco madness... Prince George's has advanced to the finals of the Maryland JUCO Madness. The Owls are facing another Owl in the Fighting Owls of Harford. Voting is only done on Twitter and you can vote HEREPrince George's defeated College of Southern Maryland, CCBC Essex and Montgomery College on its way to the championship bout. 

last time out… Mykal Johnson helped to erupt the Novak Field House faithful with a layup as time expired in regulation to send the game to overtime, but Harford Community College edged the Owls in the extra session to earn a 98-93 victory on Feb. 7. Johnson paced Prince George's with 24 points and 12 rebounds. In his career, Johnson has reached double figures in 52 of his 57 career games including 25 games with 20 points or more. The sophomore will enter his next game 24 points shy of the 1,000-point plateau. Johnson also notched his eighth double-double this season. Gus Stone also registered a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Kennith Ford added 21 points and Shiloh Beale tied a career-high 19 points in the loss. Stone reached double figures for the 36th time in his career and 21st contest with at least 20 points while also recording his second career double-double. Ford has 37 double-digit point games in his career and six 20-point outbursts. Beale tied his career best of 19 points at College of Southern Maryland on Jan. 28 and has posted at least 10 points in each of his last five games.

next time on the hardwood…If the Owls defeat Harford on Friday, Prince George's will face the winner of the #4 Baltimore City and #5 Montgomery matchup on Saturday at 6 p.m. With a loss, the squad heads to he NJCAA Region XX Division III Tournament is Feb. 23-25 at Westmoreland County.

now that's a career day… Sophomore Shiloh Beale notched a career-high 19 points at Southern Maryland on Jan. 28 and then matched the title againt Harford on Feb. 7. Sophomore Brian Ferguson scored a career-high 11 points against Frederick on Jan. 24. Sophomore Kennith Ford has posted a career-high 26 points twice this season after reaching the mark against Cecil on Nov. 29 and again against Northern Virginia on Jan. 22. Ford has also grabbed a personal-best 10 boards twice this season after posting 10 caroms against Butler County on Nov. 17 and against the Nighthawks on Jan. 22. Sophomore James Hagins matched his career high of 23 points against Howard on Jan. 17 after posting a collegiate-best 23 points against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6.  The sophomore also posted a career-high 16 caroms against the Dragons. Sophomore Mykal Johnson dished out a career-high 10 assists on his way to his first collegiate triple-double while sophomore Gus Stone hauled in 10 rebounds on his way to his first career double-double in the contest against Garrett on Jan. 13. Johnson grabbed a career-best 15 boards against Dragons. Stone also registered a career-best 33 points against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6. Sophomore Paul Golder notched a Prince George's high of 22 points against Anne Arundel on Jan. 5. Golder registered a career-best 23 points twice last season at another junior college. Freshman Darren Rivers registered a career-best eight points and 13 rebounds against Potomac State on Dec. 2. Sophomore Tavon Ngangum (12 points) had a Prince George's highs against Allegany College of Maryland on Nov. 15.

the point is double figures… Sophomore Mykal Johnson has posted double figures in 52 of his 57 career games including 25 games this season. Sophomore Kennith Ford has 37 career double-figure point games including 20 this season while sophomore James Hagins has 13 double-figure games in his career including 11 this season. Sophomore Tavon Ngangum has two 10+ games in an Owl uniform and fellow sophomores Brian Ferguson and Paul Golder each have one.

 Sophomore Mykal Johnson has scored 20 points in a game 23 times and 30 points three in his career, including nine times this season. Sophomore Gus Stone has 21 20-point performances and reached 30 points in a game twice this season. Stone has scored at least 20 points in 15 games this season. Sophomore Kennith Ford has six career 20-point games on his resume including four this season while sophomore James Hagins posted 20 points twice this season with a pair of 23-point outburst. Sophomore Paul Golder reached 20 points for the first time in his Owls career against Anne Arundel on Jan. 5.

 Sophomore James Hagins has grabbed double figures in rebounds 13 times in his career including 11 times this season. Sophomore Mykal Johnson has hauled in 10+ rebounds eight times this season and freshman Darren Rivers has posted 10 caroms in a game twice this season while sophomore Kennith Ford has three double-figure rebound contest this season.

the dish…
 Sophomore Mykal Johnson became the first Owl player to register 10 assists in a game since Alex Morales handed out 13 assists against Allegany (Md.) on Jan. 13, 2017 when Johnson recorded 10 dimes against Garrett on Jan. 13, 2018. Johnson has handed out five or more assists five times this season and six times in his career. Sophomore Gus Stone has five 5+ assist games, including tilts with seven, eight and nine assists this season. Freshman Shiloh Beale has two six assists games this season and sophomore Tavon Ngangum has two games with at least five helpers on the year. Sophomore Kennith Ford has one five assist tilt in 2017-18.

double trouble… Sophomore James Hagins has posted eight double-doubles including turning the trick six times this season. Sophomore Mykal Johnson has eight double-doubles this season including six since the New Year hit. Sophomore Kennith Ford has turned the trick three times and fellow sophomore Gus Stone has one double-double this season.

triple trouble… Sophomore Mykal Johnson recorded a triple-double against Garrett after registering 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists on Jan. 13. The 10 assists were a career best while the sophomore had two previous double-doubles before his triple threat against the Lakers.

nice to see you again…
 Sophomore Gus Stone has returned to the Owls for the 2017-18 season after playing in 2016-17. Stone ranked second on the team in his freshman campaign with 14.8 points per game and posted 20 double-figure performances including 11 games with 20 points or more.

 Prince George's is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics in 2017-18. Prince George's unveiled gold uniforms for men's soccer against Cecil on Sept. 15 as part of the 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics, A Celebration of the Past, Present, And Future. The men's and women's basketball teams unveiled their gold jerseys for the doubleheader against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6 and will be wearing them for select games the rest of the season.

hosting maryland juco tournament…
 Prince George's will be hosting the Maryland JUCO Tournament for both men's and women's basketball on Feb. 15-18. The top eight teams on both the men's and women's side in the league will fight for Maryland Junior College pride.

men's basketball tradition…
 The men's basketball team has won the Maryland JUCO Tournament four times (1971-72, 1979-80, 1980-81, 2016-17) and the NJCAA Region XX crown seven times (1990-91, 1992-93, 2007-08, 2011-12, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16).

about the coach… Head coach Brian Johnson begins his second season as the men's basketball head coach. He led the Owls to a 21-9 record last season, to the Maryland JUCO Tournament title and to the NJCAA Region XX Division III title game. The 21 wins marked the first 20-win season since 2013-14. Johnson was inducted into his high school (Mount St. Joseph) hall of fame in the fall of 2017. The Owls are 35-20 under Johnson in his two seasons at the helm.
