Golder Fuels Prince George's Men's Basketball To 87-63 Victory Against Anne Arundel

ARNOLD, Md. – Paul Golder (Laurel, Md./Laurel) scored 22 points for his best performance in a Prince George's Community College uniform to fuel the Owls to an 87-63 victory against Anne Arundel Community College in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XX and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's basketball action on Friday.

Golder notched his first 20-point performance in an Owls (12-5, 3-3 MD JUCO) uniform and fourth of his career. The sophomore connected on 10-for-14 from the floor and 2 of 2 from behind the arc for his 22 points. It was his second double-figure point performance for the Largo program. Golder also added four rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Gus Stone (Baltimore, Md./North County) added 18 points and five assists. The sophomore has posted double figures in 16 of the 18 tilts this season and 31 times in his career.

Mykal Johnson (Seat Pleasant, Md./Charles H. Flowers) notched his second career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Kennith Ford (Forrestville, Md./National Collegiate Prep) and Shiloh Beale (Waldorf, Md./St. Charles) each chipped in 10 points in the winning effort. Johnson has posted double figures in points for the 16th time this season and 42nd time in 47 games in his career. Ford notched his 13th game in 2017-18 with 10+ points while Beale scored double digits for the third time in his young career.

With the score tied at 2, Prince George's took the lead on a Ford jumper with 18:34 left in the first half. The Owls maintained the advantage throughout the first half and extended its margin to seven points thanks to an 8-2 run for a 16-9 margin with 13:43 left in the half. Four different players scored a basket for the Largo program in this span.

Anne Arundel cut the margin to 16-14 with 11:41 left, but with Prince George's holding a 19-16 edge with 10:39 on the clock the Owls closed the half on a 28-16 run to take a 47-32 lead going into the locker room. Stone powered the surge with nine points while Johnson added seven points and Beale posted six points during the final 10:19 of the stanza.

Prince George's extended its lead to 21 points at 60-39 with 15:55 remaining on a Golder trey. The Riverhawks cut the margin to 63-50 with 10:23 left, but a pair of Golder layups started a 14-0 run to give the Owls a 77-50 advantage with seven minutes on the clock en route to an 87-63 victory.

Ford hauled in seven rebounds while Darren Rivers (District Heights, Md./Duval) registered six points, nine rebounds and two blocks and James Hagins (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) also grabbed nine caroms on the night.

Prince George's returns to action on Wednesday at home against Baltimore City. Game time is 7 p.m.
