Stone's 24 Points Surges Prince George's Men's Basketball Past Butler County, 94-87

BUTLER, Pa. – Gus Stone (Baltimore, Md./North County) registered 24 points to power Prince George's Community College to a 94-87 victory against Butler County Community College in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XX men's basketball action on Friday.

Stone went 9-for-12 from the floor, 2 of 4 from behind the arc and 4 of 5 from the free throw line to register 20 points in a game for the fifth time this season and the 12th time in his career. The sophomore also added five rebounds and four assists on the night.

Mykal Johnson (Seat Pleasant, Md./Charles H. Flowers) added 17 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Owls (4-3) while Kennith Ford (Forestville, Md./National Collegiate Prep) registered his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Tavon Ngangum (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) notched his second straight double-digit performance with 10 points while James Hagins (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) tallied nine points and seven rebounds. Byron Scriber (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) was key on the defensive end with four defensive caroms and four blocks in the winning effort.

Prince George's jumped out to a 44-36 advantage going into the locker room and then were edged by the Pioneers in the second half, 51-50, but earned the seven-point victory, 94-87.

The Owls complete their Western Pennsylvania swing at Westmoreland County on Saturday afternoon. Game time is 3 p.m.
