opening tip… Prince George's heads to the Old Dominion state 2-0 and will participate in the Patrick Henry Tournament for the first time on Saturday and Sunday. The Owls will battle host Patrick Henry on Saturday evening and Pitt on Sunday afternoon.

last time out… For the second consecutive night, Gus Stone scored over 20 points in a game to lift Prince George's Community College past Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology 84-77 on Thursday. After posting 21 points in the season-opening win against the University of Maryland Club on Wednesday, Stone finished one point shy of his career best with 27 points. The sophomore shot 10-for-16 from the floor, 1 of 4 from behind the arc and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. James Hagins reached double figures in points for the second-straight night, finishing with 14 points after scoring 13 on Wednesday. The sophomore registered a double-double for the Owls after also grabbing 10 caroms on the night. Hagins also rejected three shots to bring his total to eight on the young season. Mykal Johnson has also posted double figures in points in both games this season. Johnson, who scored 16 points against the Terrapins, chipped in 11 points against Thaddeus Stevens in the winning effort.

next time on the hardwood… The Owls will start a two-game homestand on Wednesday against Pennsylvania Highlands before opening Maryland JUCO action on Nov. 15 against Allegany College of Maryland.

the point is double figures… Sophomore Mykal Johnson has posted double figures in 28 of his 32 career games including both games this season. Sophomore Gus Stone has posted 18 10+ games in his career including two this season while sophomore James Hagins has two 10-point games in his career.

20-20 vision… Sophomore Mykal Johnson has scored 20 points in a game 12 times and 30 points twice in his career. Sophomore Gus Stone has nine 20-point performances and has scored 20 points in both games this season.

on the boards… Sophomore James Hagins has grabbed double figures in rebounds twice in his career including against Thaddeus Stevens on Nov. 2. Hagins is the only player on the team with a double-digit rebound game.

double trouble… Sophomore James Hagins has posted two double-doubles in his career and in his last four games. The sophomore registered a double-double against Westmoreland last season and tallied 14 points and 10 boards against Thaddeus Stevens on Nov. 2.

nice to see you again… Sophomore Gus Stone has returned to the Owls for the 2017-18 season after playing in 2016-17. Stone ranked second on the team in his freshman campaign with 14.8 points per game and posted 16 double-figure performances including seven games with 20 points or more.

welcome to the perch… Along with welcoming back Gus Stone, head coach Brian Johnson has added sophomores Paul Golder, Tavon Ngangum and Brian Ferguson, and freshmen Shiloh Beale, Darren Rivers, Bryon Scriber and AJ Perdomo to the team in 2017-18.

that's gold, jerry, gold… Prince George's is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics in 2017-18. Prince George's unveiled gold uniforms for men's soccer against Cecil on Sept. 15 as part of the 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics, A Celebration of the Past, Present, And Future. The men's and women's basketball teams will unveil their gold jerseys for the doubleheader against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6 and then will be wearing them for select games the rest of the season.

alumni appreciation night… The athletics department will be holding Alumni Appreciation Night that will also include Prince George's faculty and staff on Dec. 6 against CCBC Catonsville at 5/7 p.m. Alumni, faculty or staff that wish to participate in the event must pre-register at www.pgccowls.com/alumninight in order to receive up to four free tickets, a free gift and discounted meals. Deadline is Dec. 1. Prince George's will also be holding a Kid's Night Out on Jan. 17.

hall of fame… Prince George's will be holding its inaugural Hall of Fame as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration. Nominations are currently being accepted until Dec. 15 by going to www.pgccowls.com/halloffame.

hosting maryland juco tournament… Prince George's will be hosting the Maryland JUCO Tournament for both men's and women's basketball on Feb. 23-25. 

men's basketball tradition… The men's basketball team has won the Maryland JUCO Tournament four times (1971-72, 1979-80, 1980-81, 2016-17) and the NJCAA Region XX crown seven times (1990-91, 1992-93, 2007-08, 2011-12, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16).

about the coach… Head coach Brian Johnson begins his second season as the men's basketball head coach. He led the Owls to a 21-9 record last season, to the Maryland JUCO Tournament title and to the NJCAA Region XX Division III title game. The 21 wins marked the first 20 win season since 2013-14. Johnson was inducted into his high school (Mount St. Joseph) hall of fame in the fall of 2017.
