Owls down Dragons

Owls down Dragons

Largo, MD. – After holding a commanding lead throughout the first thirty five minutes of the game, the Owls men seem to have lost their focus and allowed Howard to cut the lead to five points with less than 2:00 minutes to play. The Dragons who were down by as much as 22 points were able to slow the pace and battled until the final whistle. This made for an exciting ending to a game that looked lop sided for much of its duration.

With the Owls struggling at the line down the stretch, Donnell Graham made one of two free throws to give the Owls the 87-84 lead with 9.1 seconds left in the game after the Dragons had cut the lead to 2pts. On the Dragons inbound, sophomore Patrick Johnson-Agwu came up big once again for the Owls with a huge steal to seal the game as time ran out. Johnson-Agwu also recorded another double-double on the season with 18pts and 10rbs. Sophomore Lavonte Sanders and freshman Donnell Graham chipped in with 16pts apiece while grabbing 2 and 3 boards respectively. Terrell Willis from Howard had a game high 23pts in the Dragons defeat.

This win was well needed for an Owls team that had lost their last 4 contest. The team will look to build on this win and carry this momentum into their final game of the regular season on Monday, February 15, against NOVA. Tip-off for this game is set for 7:00 PM at Novak Field House.
