Reese and Cooper Complete Games Propel Owls over the Hawks

WALDORF, Md. – Clark Reese (Greenbelt, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) recorded 7 strikeouts in a seven-inning complete-game effort to propel Prince George's Community College past College of Southern Maryland 11-0 in the opener of a Maryland Junior College baseball doubleheader on Saturday. 
 
Reese allowed 0 runs, 5 hits, and 3 walks in addition to his 7 strikeouts.  The sophomore accomplished this in 79 pitches and improves to 2-0 on the season.
 
Pedro Montero (LaRomana, Dominican Republic/Colegio Nueva) posted a 3-for-3 performance on the day with two doubles, a walk, a stolen base and three runs scored while Reilly Hughes (Alexandria, V.A./Bishop Ireton) combined for two hits, one run scored and three RBIs in the victory.
 
Going into the 7th inning the Owls were up 7-0 and scored four additional runs to clinch the win.  Throughout the game six Owls came up with multi-hits. Justin Johnson (Bowie, M.D./Bowie) had two hits, one run scored, and a stolen base.  Reese, in addition to his pitching performance, had two hits, and two RBIs.  Dillon Sullivan (Palmetto, F.L./Manatee) had two hits, three runs scored, 1 RBI, and a walk while Peyton Harmon (Palm Beach, F.L./Park Vista) had two hits, one run, a triple, and a walk.

Game two of the double header saw Aaron Cooper (Oakland Park, F.L./Northeast) on the mound recording 8 strikeouts in a seven-inning complete game effort with 1 run, 7 hits, and 1 walk to advance Prince George's to a 3-1 win.

The Owls took an early lead in the second inning scoring two runs.  They followed it up in the top of the third inning with one more run in.  The Owls were able to hold the Hawks to only one run scored in the bottom of the sixth.
 
The 3 runs scored by the Owls were off of 8 hits.  Hughes had two hits with one RBI while Jake Willis (Prince Frederick, M.D./Calvert) had two hits and a run scored with a stolen base.  There were also two hits from Wyatt Pascual (Miami, F.L./Gateway) and an RBI from Aderlyn Cubilete (Cape Coral, F.L./Island Coast).

The Owls move to 8-6 on the season and 4-3 in MDJUCO conference. Prince George's returns to action tomorrow at Chesapeake College. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
