Prince George's Baseball Places Five On NJCAA All-Region XX Division III Team

LARGO, Md. – As the Prince George's baseball team gears up for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III World Series this weekend, five Owls have been named to the NJCAA All-Region XX Division III team. Brandon Crosby (Richmond, Va./Atlee, Mechanicsville), Dakota McFadden (Largo, Md./Heide Trask [N.C.]), Bay To (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann) and Siri-Jacob Ramirez (Orlando, Fla./Cenapec [Dominican Republic]) earned All-Region XX first-team honors while Harold Marte (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) was selected as an All-Region XX honorable mention.

Crosby, who was also named to the All-Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) first team, paces the team in hits (77), runs (69), stolen bases (45), batting average (.438) and on-base percentage (.526) while ranking third in RBIs (47), third in doubles (17), third in triples (2) and fourth in slugging percentage (.604). The freshman leads the NJCAA Division III in steals and ranks seventh in the nation in runs. He has posted a hit in 40 of the 47 games played, including 11 two-hit games and 12 three-hit performances. Crosby has also scored two or more runs 19 times and registered two or more stolen bases in 13 games.

McFadden, who was also selected to the All-MD JUCO second team, fuels the team in doubles (23), RBIs (60), homeruns (11) and slugging percentage (.800) while sitting second in hits (70), second in batting average (.438), third in runs (49) and third in on-base percentage (.489). McFadden is second in NJCAA Division III in doubles, fifth in slugging percentage and 10th in homeruns. He has recorded a hit in 37 of the 47 games this season, including 13 two-hit games, four three-hit performances and four games with four hits. In those three of the four games with four hits, McFadden was perfect at the plate going 4-for-4.

To leads the team in triples (4) while ranking second in runs (54), second in doubles (19), second in RBIs (48), second in stolen bases (24), second in on-base percentage (.511), second in slugging percentage (.772), third in hits (68), third in homeruns (9) and third in batting average (.430). He ranks eighth in NJCAA Division III in slugging percentage. To has tallied a hit in 37 of the 45 games he has notched an at-bat on the year. He has recorded 18 multi-hit games this season, including two three-hit performances, two four-hit games and two five-hit contests this season.

Ramirez is second on the team in triples (3), fifth in RBIs (30), fifth in runs (30), sixth in hits (42), sixth in doubles (8), sixth in batting average (.359) and sixth in slugging percentage (.556). He has posted a hit in 26 of the 35 games he has appeared in this season. Ramirez has eight multi-hit games this year, including a five-hit performance.

Marte is second on the squad in homeruns (10), third in slugging percentage (.688), fourth in hits (55), fourth in RBIs (35), fourth in doubles (14), fourth in on-base percentage (.462) and fifth in batting average (.382). Marte has posted a hit in 33 of the 41 games he has played in 2017. He has 25 multi-hit games this season, including four three-hit games.

Crosby, McFadden and To were also named to the All-Region XX Tournament team after helping the Owls win their second region title in the last four years. The Largo program then received the automatic bid to the NJCAA Division III World Series by beating Surry Community College in a best two-of three series thanks to 12-9 and 11-9 victories on May 19 and 20.

The Owls, who have been ranked in the NJCAA Division III Baseball Rankings in six of the final seven polls, are having one of their best seasons in program history with a 33-13-1 record. The squad is 14-2 against Division III competition and 21-2 in non-conference games this season after posting a 12-11-1 mark in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference games.

Prince George's, who has been seeded sixth in the NJCAA Division III World Series, opens the tournament against third seed and three-time defending national champion Tyler Junior College on Saturday at Pioneer Park in Tennessee. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
