Prince George's Baseball Rejoins NJCAA Division III Baseball Rankings In No. 9 Spot

LARGO, Md. - The Prince George's Community College baseball team returns to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Baseball Rankings in the ninth spot. The Owls were also the ninth-ranked team in Division III for the week of Apr. 4-10.

Prince George's left the poll last week after falling into the receiving votes category with two points, but went 4-0 in the week against NJCAA Division II competition including a two-game sweep against No. 17 Frederick on Saturday to rejoin the poll with 13 points.

Cumberland County takes over the top spot in the poll after receiving two first-place votes and 63 points, two points ahead of Rowan Glouchester (61 points), who also received two first-place votes. St. Cloud Tech notched three first-place nods, but sits at No. 3 with 59 points while last week's top team Brookdale dropped to fourth with 52 points. Tyler (41 points), Niagara County (30 points), Northampton (22 points), Century (17 points), Prince George's (13 points) and Onondaga (9 points) round out the Top-10 in the nation.

The Owls have won 20 games for the first time under sixth-year head coach Buddy Foster and have posted an 11-3 record since snapping a five-game winless streak. The Largo program is 9-3-1 against Division II programs and 7-1 against Division III opponents this season while going 6-1 against Maryland Junior College Athetic Conference teams in the last seven contests.

Prince George's, who has posted the decisive runs in its final offensive inning in its last three games, returns to action on Thursday at home against Anne Arundel Community College. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
