opening pitch…
Prince George's continues its four-team, six-game homestand on Saturday when Frederick comes to Largo for a doubleheader. The two teams split the doubleheader last year in Frederick.

the word on the cougars… Frederick, who had its eight-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss in the nightcap of a twinbill against the College of Southern Maryland on Thursday, comes into play on Saturday 27-8 overall and 8-5 in league play. CJ Mackinson leads the team with a .434 batting average with 33 hits, 24 runs scored, eight doubles, two homers and 15 RBIs. Jett Manning is hitting .423 with 44 hits, 40 runs scored, 13 doubles, five triples, a homer and 28 RBIs while Nick Fuhrmann is batting .387 with 29 hits, 19 runs scored, six doubles, a homer and 21 RBIs. Colby Rudis fuels the pitching staff with 56.1 innings, a 5-1 record, a 2.40 ERA and 57 strikeouts.

last time out… Bay To capped a seven-run rally over the final two innings with the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to surge Prince George's Community College past CCBC Dundalk 17-16 on Thursday. After the Owls scored six times in the eighth to tie the game at 16, Brandon Crosby singled down the right field line with two outs to start the decisive rally. Dwayne Coleman singled through the left side to move Crosby to second before To dropped a single into right center to bring home Crosby with the winning run and put the Prince George's players and fans into a frantic celebration. To finished the day 5-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs while Coleman was 5-for-7 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Crosby had four runs scored, two hits and an RBI while Dakota McFadden registered three hits, five RBIs and two runs scored, including smacking a three-run homer in the seventh. The Owls scored 10 of the final 11 runs in the game, but pinch hitter Siri-Jacob Ramirez made the ninth-inning heroics happen thanks to a bases-loaded bases-clearing base hit to tie the game at 16 in a six-run eighth. Crosby, Coleman and McFadden also registered RBIs in the stanza. James Wilcox III pitched the final 3.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit with two walks to earn his second win of the year. Wilcox also tossed the final two innings of Tuesday's 6-2 win against CCBC Essex to earn the save.

next on tap… Prince George's continues its four-team, six-game homestand on Thursday against Anne Anne Arundel before Chesapeake (Apr. 22) comes to town in that span to conclude the home stretch. The twinbill against Chesapeake has been moved from a road two-game set to home. Prince George's, who is 11-6-1 at home this season, has 15 regular season games left on the schedule and will play 11 of those contests at the Prince George's Community College Baseball Field.

nationally ranked… After ending the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Baseball Rankings in the ninth spot last week, Prince George's dropped out of the poll this week and into the category of receiving votes with two points.

theft master… Freshman Brandon Crosby became the third player in the last five years to reach 20 steals in a season after swiping two bases against Harford on Apr. 4. Crosby, who currently has 23 bases, joins Roland Eusesio (26, 2016) and Abdiel Marcano (29, 2014 and 20, 2013) as the only players with 20 steals in that stretch.

hovermill honored… Michael Hovermill, Jr. was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 27-April 2. It is Hovermill's first honor of the season. Hovermill pitched a nine inning complete-game gem in a 7-1 win against Anne Arundel Community College on Mar. 28, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts on 117 pitches. He pitched a 1-2-3 inning five times and retired 12 of 13 batters faced from the second to the fifth inning with the only hitter reaching base on an error in that stretch. The Riverhawks were 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and twice Anne Arundel had runners in scoring position with no outs and the freshman got out of both innings unscathed.
