Prince George's Baseball Toes The Line With Bay To's Walk-Off Single To Defeat CCBC Dundalk, 17-16

LARGO, Md. – Bay To (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann) capped a seven-run rally over the final two innings with the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to surge Prince George's Community College past CCBC Dundalk 17-16 in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) baseball action on Thursday.

After the Owls (19-8-1, 5-7-1 MD JUCO) scored six times in the eighth to tie the game at 16, Brandon Crosby (Richmond, Va./Atlee, Mechanicsville) singled down the right field line with two outs to start the decisive rally. Dwayne Coleman (Lothian, Md./Southern) singled through the left side to move Crosby to second before To dropped a single into right center to bring home Crosby with the winning run and put the Prince George's players and fans into a frantic celebration.

To finished the day 5-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs while Coleman was 5-for-7 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Crosby had four runs scored, two hits and an RBI while Dakota McFadden (Largo, Md./Heide Trask [N.C.]) registered three hits, five RBIs and two runs scored, including smacking a three-run homer in the seventh.

The Owls scored 10 of the final 11 runs in the game, but pinch hitter Siri-Jacob Ramirez (Orlando, Fla./Cenapec [Dominican Republic]) made the ninth-inning heroics happen thanks to a bases-loaded bases-clearing base hit to tie the game at 16 in a six-run eighth. Crosby, Coleman and McFadden also registered RBIs in the stanza.

James Wilcox III pitched the final 3.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit with two walks to earn his second win of the year. Wilcox also tossed the final two innings of Tuesday's 6-2 win against CCBC Essex to earn the save.

Corey Pea paced the Lions (8-20-1, 4-10-1 MD JUCO) with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI while Myles White and Justin Mack each registered two hits, two runs scored and an RBI in the losing effort.

Prince George's overcame seven errors and an eight-run deficit to score 10 of the final 11 runs in the last three innings to earn the walk-off victory and split the season series with CCBC Dundalk for the second-straight season.

The scoring started early in the game with the Lions posting three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. White, the starting pitcher, helped his own cause with an RBI single down the left field line before Mack added an RBI single to left with a second run touching home on an error on the play.

The Owls responded with two runs in the bottom of the first to cut the deficit to 3-2. To started the Prince George's two-run rally with a two-out single to left field before McFadden smacked a run-scoring triple to right field to get the Largo program on the scoreboard. McFadden then scored on a passed ball for the second run.

After the Owls answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, CCBC Dundalk extended its margin to two runs courtesy of an error.

Prince George's scored the next three runs with a run in the third and two in the fourth to grab its first lead of the afternoon at 5-4. Coleman and To hit back-to-back doubles in the third to account for the Owls run in the stanza. Naquan Holden (Brooklyn, N.Y./Perkiomen) singled and scored on an error and Coleman hit a run-scoring single in the fourth for a 5-4 edge.

Trailing 5-4, the Lions scored seven times in the fifth to grab an 11-5 advantage. Dignazio hit a run-scoring fielder's choice, but CCBC Dundalk took the lead when a second run touched home on an error on the play. After John Staab coaxed a bases loaded walk, Joey Locascio reached on an RBI error with two runners coming across the plate on the play before the seventh run touched home on an error to give the Lions a six-run advantage.

Prince George's answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Kilian Bloat (Liberty, N.Y./Liberty) powered up to smack his first round tripper of the year to left with one out. Holden was hit with the pitch, moved to second on a wild pitch and touched home on Coleman's double to center field to trim the deficit to 11-7.

After the Largo program responded with two runs, Prince George's gave four runs back to CCBC Dundalk thanks to a Staab RBI single down the left field line and bases loaded walks to Kevin Johnson, Thirus Jones and Jamie Naills, Jr. for a 15-7 advantage.

Down by eight runs in the seventh, Crosby reached on a fielder's choice and To singled to left before McFadden drilled an "Earl Weaver" three-run special to left to cut the margin to five runs.

After McFadden's three-run homer, the Lions scored what it hoped would be an insurance run on a Corey Pea RBI double down the left field line for a 16-10 lead.

A six-run eighth tied the game at 16. Bloat started the offensive outburst with a walk before Holden doubled to right center. Crosby hit a soft liner that found the outfield grass to plate Bloat before Coleman brought home Holden on an opposite field base hit. To walked to bring the tying run to the plate with no outs. McFadden sent a drive back to the fence in right field to score Crosby and make it a three-run game. After Harold Marte (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) walked to load the bases again, Ramirez came off the bench to send a line-drive base hit to left center to score all three runners and square the game at 16.

CCBC Dundalk would have a runner reach on an error to start the frame, but a pop up and a pair of groundouts sent the contest into the bottom of the ninth knotted at 16. With two outs, Crosby, Coleman and To hit three-consecutive singles to complete the eight-run comeback and give the Owls their ninth win in their last 12 games.

Prince George's posted 24 hits in the game with eight of the nine starters posting at least two hits in the game. To and Coleman each notched a career-high five hits on the day. To tallied his 10th multi-hit performance of the year while the freshman is 8-for-11 with four runs scored and three RBIs in the two wins this week. After going 4-for-5 against CCBC Essex on Tuesday, Coleman backed up that performance with his eighth multi-hit game of the season. Coleman is 9-for-12 in the first two games this week with two runs scored and five RBIs for the Owls.

Holden finished the afternoon with two hits and three runs scored while Bloat recorded two hits, two runs scored and an RBI courtesy of his first homer of the year.

Prince George's continues its homestand when Frederick comes to town for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is 12 p.m.
