Prince George's Baseball Contest At CCBC Catonsville Postponed Due To Inclement Weather

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's baseball game at CCBC Catonsville, originally scheduled for Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Catonsville, has been postponed due to the inclement weather. Makeup date to be announced.

The Owls have posted a noteworthy week nationally after entering the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Rankings in the ninth spot on Tuesday. Freshman Michael Hovermill, Jr. (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) was named the NJCAA Division III Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday after pitching a nine-inning complete-game gem and allowing one run on four hits with 11 strikeouts against Anne Arundel Community College on Mar. 28.

Prince George's is led by Brandon Crosby (Richmond, Va./Atlee, Mechanicsville), who leads the team with a .479 batting average, 45 hits, 36 runs scored, 11 doubles, a triple, a homer, 34 RBIs and 21 steals. Crosby became the third player in team history in the last five years to reach 20 steals in a season and leads both NJCAA Division III and the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) in the category. Harold Marte (Largo, Md./Battlefield [Va.]) leads the team with six homers while Dakota McFadden (Largo, Md./Heide Trask [N.C.]) fuels the team with 13 doubles and 16 extra base hits. Just like Crosby in steals, McFadden leads both the national and league ranks in two baggers. McFadden also paces the pitching staff with 32.1 innings pitched, a 4-1 record, 36 strikeouts and a 2.51 ERA.

The Owls are coming off a 10-8 loss against Harford on Tuesday night in Bel Air. The first seven hitters in the batting order each recorded at least two hits in the contest while Thomas Thorgersen (Largo, Md./Forest Park [Va.]) struck out nine of the 12 batters he faced in relief.

Prince George's (17-8-1, 3-7-1 MD JUCO) returns to action on Tuesday at CCBC Essex. Game time is 3:30 p.m. The Owls will then return home for a three-team, four-game homestand starting on Apr. 13 against CCBC Dundalk.
