the series… Prince George's embarks on a three-game road trip starting at Harford on Tuesday evening. It will be the second time the two teams will have squared off in the last nine days after the Fighting Owls downed the Owls 14-9 on Mar. 27. Harford comes into the game riding a five-game winning streak in the series against Prince George's while the last win for the Owls was a 6-5 decision on Feb. 21, 2014.

the word on the fighting owls… Harford comes into the contest 23-5-1 overall and 12-0-1 in league play after sweeping Chesapeake in a doubleheader on Saturday. Peyton Sorrels leads the team with a .500 batting average with 36 hits, 28 runs scored, four doubles, three triples, four homers and 31 RBIs. Luke Johnson is batting .408 with 42 hits, 39 runs scored, nine doubles, 11 home runs and 40 RBIs while Tre Todd is hitting .400 with 32 hits, 46 runs scored, nine doubles, a triple, seven homers and 23 RBIs. Will Reed had tossed a team-high 26.1 innings with a 5-1 record, a 2.39 ERA and 39 strikeouts.

last time we met… Harford Community College defeated Prince George's Community College 14-9 on Mar. 27. Dwayne Coleman paced the Owls with two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Coleman smacked his second home run in three days. Austin Adams added a two hits, two RBIs and a run scored while Siri-Jacob Ramirez recorded a two-run double along with a run scored, and Dakota McFadden registered two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Brandon Crosby chipped in two hits and two runs scored in the loss. Luke Johnson powered the Fighting Owls with two homers, two runs scored and four RBIs while John Mastrangelo recorded three RBIs, two runs scored and an RBI, and Ryan Shinn had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI in the winning effort.

last time out… Harold Marte smacked two homers and drove in six runs to power Prince George's Community College to a doubleheader sweep against Montgomery on Sunday. The Owls won the opener 14-11 and then took the nightcap, 3-2. Marte went 5-for-6 on the afternoon with two homers, six RBIs and four runs scored. In the nightcap, the freshman smacked his second homer of the day to tie the game at 1 and the registered the game-winning RBI single in the sixth to propel the Largo program to victory. Marte scored the game-tying run in the first game in the second and then came up in the frame to cap a nine-run stanza with a three-run homer to give Prince George's a 9-2 lead. He then added an RBI double in the fourth to help the Owls post a two-game sweep against its longtime rival. Dakota McFadden picked up the win in the nightcap after allowing two runs on seven hits with four walks and six strikeouts in a seven-inning complete game for his fourth win of the year. McFadden worked out of a bases loaded one-out jam in the first inning and then got the final out of the game on a fielder's choice groundout with the bases loaded. In the opener, McFadden went 2-for-3 with four runs scored at the dish. Ryan Faircloth posted two hits, three runs scored and an RBI in the two games for Prince George's, including tying the second game at 2 with a solo home run to center in the fifth. Brandon Crosby added three hits, two RBIs and a run scored in the opener and Thomas Thorgersen recorded two hits, three RBIs and a run scored in the opening tilt.

next on tap… Prince George's continues its three-game road trek at CCBC Catonsville on Thursday before concluding the road trip at CCBC Essex on Apr. 11. The Owls return home to host CCBC Dundalk on Apr. 13.

what a stretch… After going through a five-game winless streak, Prince George's has won seven of its last nine games, including going 6-0 against NJCAA Division III teams and have won all four games against Division III Region XX competition. The squad has posted 61 runs in the seven wins and has tallied 12 innings with two or more runs scored, including three four-run frames, four five-run innings and a nine-run outburst against Montgomery. The Owls have accounted for 51 of their 61 runs in this span in a multiple scoring run inning. The team has pounded out 76 hits in the seven victories, including 28 extra base hits (19 doubles, 3 triples, 6 home runs).

region xx tournament… Prince George's Community College will host the NJCAA Division III Region XX Tournament on May 12-14 and looks to be in good position to be the top seed in the three-day event. The Owls swept CACC-Allegheny 6-2 and 11-1 on Mar. 26 and then swept Montgomery 14-11 and 3-2 on Apr. 2. Westmoreland County will come to town on Apr. 29.

in the nation… Brandon Crosby leads the National Junior College Athletic Association with 19 stolen bases while ranking sixth in runs (34), sixth in RBIs (34) and 10th in hits (43). Dakota McFadden is tied for first with 13 doubles. Harold Marte has moved into fifth in home runs (6) and sixth in slugging percentage (.839) while Bay To is sixth in triples (4). NOTE: Prince George's is an NJCAA Division III member so these rankings only include Division III programs in the nation.

in the league… Brandon Crosby leads Maryland JUCO in stolen bases (19) while ranking second in hits (34), second in on-base percentage (.573), third in batting average (.489), third in RBIs (34), fifth in runs scored (34) and eighth in doubles (9). Dakota McFadden leads the circuit with 13 doubles while ranking third in wins (4), fifth in ERA (2.57), seventh in innings pitched (32.1), eighth in RBIs (26) and ninth in strikeouts (36). Harold Marte sits second in slugging percentage (.839), fifth in home runs (6) and 10th in batting average (.419). Jonathan Mahoney ranks third in wins (4), fifth in strikeouts (41), sixth in strikeouts per nine innings (11.25) and eighth in innings pitched (32.0). Bay To ranks second in triples (4) and eighth in slugging percentage (.704) while Siri-Jacob Ramirez is sixth in triples (3), and Kilian Bloat and Quentin Rohrbaugh are tied for ninth in the category (2). As a team, the Owls lead Maryland JUCO in batting average while ranking second in runs (327), second in triples (16), second in homers (20), second in RBIs (204), second in on-base percentage (.469), second in slugging percentage (.588), third in hits (279), third in doubles (58), third in stolen bases (56), fifth in strikeouts (165) and fifth in ERA (5.12). NOTE: The Maryland JUCO is comprised of all the teams from Maryland no matter what division affiliation (Division I, II or III).

the long ball… Prince George's has smacked 20 home runs this season. Harold Marte leads the team with six homers while Dwayne Coleman has smacked four home runs, and Ryan Faircloth and Bay To each have three round trippers. Dakota McFadden has gone yard twice this season and Brandon Crosby and Siri-Jacob Ramirez each have one long ball this season.  

the roster… Head coach Buddy Foster has added 11 freshman to his team in 2017 while returning 10 players from last year's team.

a loss to the owls family... Legendary Prince George's baseball coach William "Bumps" Vaughan passed away at the age of 90 on Feb. 25. In his long career as a head coach includes 21 years at the helm of the Owls from 1986-2005. The Owls will be wearing a special patch on their uniforms in honor of Vaughan and the athletic department will pay tribute to the legendary coach at an upcoming game.

about the coach… Head coach Buddy Foster enters his sixth season as the head coach of the baseball team. Foster has been at Prince George's since the 2009 campaign after serving as the squad's pitching coach for three seasons before being elevated to the head coach position. He
