the series… Prince George's renews its rivalry with Montgomery with a doubleheader on Sunday. The Raptors have won the last seven games in the series, including one game in the Region XX Tournament in 2015 and two postseason games in 2016. The Owls last win in the series was a 17-16 decision in the 2014 Region XX Tournament when Prince George's won the title and advanced to the NJCAA Division III World Series.

the word on the raptors… Montgomery comes into the twinbill 14-11 overall and 4-3 in league play after splitting a doubleheader with Alleghany College of Maryland on Thursday. The Raptors won the opener 7-6 before falling 13-2 in the nightcap. Naja Garcia leads the team with a .307 batting average with 23 hits, 19 runs scored, three doubles and 15 RBIs. Greg Brown is batting .280 with 21 hits, 16 runs scored, seven doubles, a homer and 14 RBIs while Darren Prebble has 21 hits, 26 runs scored, two homers and 13 RBIs. Clayton Dwyer leads the pitching staff with 29.0 innings, a 4-0 record, a 2.17 ERA and 30 strikeouts on the year.

last time out… Cecil College defeated Prince George's Community College 12-2 in seven innings on Thursday. Harold Marte paced the Owls with two hits and an RBI while Dakota McFadden smacked his second home run of the season in the loss.

what a four-day stretch… Prince George's went 5-1 in six games from Mar. 25-28 and outscored the opponent 44-12 in the five victories. Brandon Crosby posted a .473 batting average (9-for-19) with 12 runs scored, two doubles, a homer, four RBIs and six stolen bases in those games while Bay To hit .421 (8-for-19) with four runs scored, two doubles, a homer, 10 RBIs and three stolen bases. Siri-Jacob Ramirez hit .368 (7-for-19) with six runs scored, a triple, a homer and eight RBIs while Dwayne Coleman batted .363 (8-for-22) with 10 runs scored, two round trippers and five RBIs, and Dakota McFadden posted a .350 batting average (7-for-20) with four runs scored, five doubles and seven RBIs. On the mound, Michael Hovermill, Jr. was masterful against Anne Arundel after he allowed one run on four hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts on 117 pitches in a nine-inning complete game.

weather interruptus… After being able to play the first 13 games of the schedule uninterrupted by weather, four-straight scheduled dates were postponed. The Owls were slated to play Garrett College in a doubleheader on Mar. 12, but cold temperatures forced the twinbill to be rescheduled for April 30 at 12 p.m. The storm that then came through the area moved the March 14 home game against Harford Community College to March 27 at 3:30 p.m. The two-game set against Garrett and the tilt against Harford will both be played in Largo while the game at Cecil on Mar. 16 and two-game set at Allegany on Mar. 18 were slated to be the first two legs of a four-game road trip before the weather caused those two dates to be postponed. The twinbill against Allegany has been rescheduled for Apr. 23.

in the nation… Brandon Crosby leads the National Junior College Athletic Association with 18 stolen bases while sixth in runs scored (33) and seventh in RBIs (32). Bay To ranks sixth in triples (4) and Siri-Jacob Ramirez is 10th in the category (3) while Dakota McFadden is fourth in doubles (12). As a team, the Owls lead the NJCAA Division III in slugging percentage (.581) while ranking second in batting average (.383), third in on-base percentage (.469), third in triples (16), fifth in stolen bases (55), seventh in home runs (17), seventh in runs (215), eighth in hits (259), eighth in doubles (51) and eighth in RBIs. NOTE: Prince George's is an NJCAA Division III member so these rankings only include Division III programs in the nation.

in the league… Brandon Crosby leads Maryland JUCO in stolen bases (18) while ranking second in batting average (.494), second in hits (40), second in on-base percentage (.578), third in RBIs (32) and fourth in runs (33). Dakota McFadden leads the league in doubles (12) and ranks fifth in ERA (2.59), seventh in wins (3) and 10th in strikeouts per nine innings (10.66). Jonathan Mahoney is third in MD JUCO in strikeouts (38), fourth in strikeouts per nine innings (12.21), sixth in innings (28.0) and seventh in wins (3) while Kevin Kornieck is also seventh in wins (3). Bay To is second in triples (4), fifth in slugging percentage (.727) and 10th in stolen bases (9). Dwayne Coleman and Harold Marte are tied for seventh in homers (4) while Siri-Jacob Ramirez is sixth in triples (3), and Austin AdamsQuentin Rohrbaugh and Kilian Bloat are tied for eighth in triples (2). As a team, Prince George's leads the league in batting average (.383) and triples (16) while ranking second in second in on-base percentage (.469), second in slugging percentage (.581), second in RBIs (188), second in runs (215), third in hits (259), third in doubles (51), third in stolen bases (55) and fourth in homers (17). NOTE: The Maryland JUCO is comprised of all the teams from Maryland no matter what division affiliation (Division I, II or III).

the long ball… Prince George's has smacked 17 home runs this season. Harold Marte and Dwayne Coleman lead the team with four homers while Bay To has three homers and Ryan Faircloth and Dakota McFadden each have two round trippers. Brandon Crosby and Siri-Jacob Ramirez each have one home run this season.

the roster… Head coach Buddy Foster has added 11 freshman to his team in 2017 while returning 10 players from last year's team.

a loss to the owls family... Legendary Prince George's baseball coach William "Bumps" Vaughan passed away at the age of 90 on Feb. 25. In his long career as a head coach includes 21 years at the helm of the Owls from 1986-2005. The Owls will be wearing a special patch on their uniforms in honor of Vaughan and the athletic department will pay tribute to the legendary coach at an upcoming game.

about the coach… Head coach Buddy Foster enters his sixth season as the head coach of the baseball team. Foster has been at Prince George's since the 2009 campaign after serving as the squad's pitching coach for three seasons before being elevated to the head coach position. He
