Prince George's Baseball Falls To Cecil

LARGO, Md. – Cecil College defeated Prince George's Community College 12-2 in seven innings of a Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) baseball contest on Thursday.

Harold Marte (Largo, Battlefield [Va.]) paced the Owls (15-6-1, 1-5-1 MD JUCO) with two hits and an RBI while Dakota McFadden (Largo, Md./Heide Trask [N.C.]) smacked his second home run of the season in the loss.

In the fourth, Bay To (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann) doubled to center and came around to score on Marte's RBI double down the left field line for Prince George's first run of the game. McFadden drilled a line-drive home run over the center field fence in the sixth to account for the Largo program's second run.

Joe Bagnerise fueled the Seahawks (9-12, 6-3 MD JUCO) with a 3-for-4 performance with three RBIs and a run scored while Kyle Prince tallied three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs in the winning effort.

Cecil used a big inning to take the lead and never looked back to earn the seven-inning victory.

Powered by a two-run double and an RBI single by Bagnerise, the Seahawks scored 10 runs in the third to take a 10-0 advantage. Price also had a two-run double while Joe Zirolli, Nick Roepken, Collin McGeary and Cameron Ney each added RBIs in the frame while the third while the final run came home on a wild pitch.

After Marte's RBI double in the fourth, Cecil added two runs in the fifth on a two-run single by Zac Van Dyke to increase the lead to 12-1. McFadden hit his second homer of the year in the sixth to set the final score at 12-2.

Kilian Bloat (Liberty, N.Y./Liberty) took the loss for the Largo program.

The Owls return to action on Saturday when they host long-time neighboring county rival Montgomery College for a doubleheader. Game time is 12 p.m.
