LARGO, Md. – Harford Community College defeated Prince George's Community College 14-9 in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) baseball action on Monday.

Dwayne Coleman (Lothian, Va./Southern) paced the Owls (14-6-1, 0-5-1 MD JUCO) with two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Coleman smacked his second home run in three days after hitting a homer against Finger Lakes on Saturday.

Austin Adams (Fayetteville, Ga./Whitewater) added a two hits, two RBIs and a run scored while Siri-Jacob Ramirez (Orlando, Fla./Cenapec [Dominican Republic]) recorded a two-run double along with a run scored, and Dakota McFadden (Largo, Md./Heide Trask [N.C.]) registered two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Brandon Crosby (Richmond, Va./Atlee, Mechanicsville) chipped in two hits and two runs scored in the loss.

Luke Johnson powered the Fighting Owls (20-4, 10-0 MD JUCO) with two homers, two runs scored and four RBIs while John Mastrangelo recorded three RBIs, two runs scored and an RBI, and Ryan Shinn had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI in the winning effort.

Harford jumped out to the advantage and never looked back to earn its fifth-straight win against Prince George's in the series.

The Fighting Owls scored five times in the top of the first to take a 5-0 lead. Adam Rapp started the scoring with an RBI single through the right side before Ryan Calhoun recorded an RBI double down the left field line. Mastrangelo then capped the rally with a three-run homer.

The Owls answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the stanza to cut the margin to 5-2. After Crosby walked, Coleman hit a two-run homer to make it a three-run game.

Harford responded with a Johnson two-run homer in the second to increase the Fighting Owls lead to 7-2. A three-run third gave the visitors a 10-2 advantage after Peyton Sorrels hit an RBI single to left before two more runs touched home courtesy of an error on the play.

After the Fighting Owls added a run in the fourth on Johnson's second round tripper of the afternoon, Prince George's scored twice in the fourth to cut the deficit to 11-4. McFadden doubled to right center and Thomas Thorgersen (Largo, Md./Forest Park [Va.]) walked with two outs before Adams plated both runners on an opposite field triple.

In the seventh, Harford added a run on a throwing error and a Johnson RBI groundout, and then Shinn hit an RBI single through the left side in the ninth for a 14-4 lead.

The home Owls did not quit and posted five runs in the ninth for their fifth five-run inning in three days. Bryan Waltemath (Bowie, Md./American [Fla.]) started the offensive outburst with a double to right center before pinch runner Jared Davis (Largo, Md./Bayside [Va.]) stole third and came home on an error on the play. Adams singled through the right side with one out and Crosby followed with a single to left field. After Coleman was hit with the pitch to load the bases, Bay To (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann) brought Adams home on a sacrifice fly to right in foul territory. Ramirez followed with a two-run double to the gap in right center to score Crosby and Coleman before McFadden plated Ramirez on a run-scoring double to right center to set the final score at 14-9.

James Wilcox III (Sterling, Va./Dominion) took the loss.

Prince George's hits the road to battle Anne Arundel on Tuesday. First pitch is 3:30 p.m.
