opening pitch…
After a 12-day layoff due to the weather and field conditions, Prince George's hits the road for only the second time this season and its first Maryland JUCO contest away from Largo at CCBC Dundalk on Tuesday. The Owls have won four of the last five against the Lions, but the two teams split the season series last year with the road team coming up victorious on both occasions.

the word on lions… CCBC Dundalk, who was slated to host Delaware County Community College for a doubleheader on Sunday, came into that scheduled twinbill 4-9 overall and 0-1 in Maryland JUCO after sweeping a two-game set against Ocean County College on Mar. 12. The Lions, who had four games postponed due to the weather, lost 10-3 in eight innings to Anne Arundel Community College on Mar. 7. Jamie Naill, Jr. leads the team with a .349 batting average with 15 hits, 10 runs scored, a double and four RBIs. Justin Mack is second on the team with a .324 batting average, 11 hits, three runs scored, two doubles and five RBIs while John Staab is hitting at a .300 clip with 12 hits, six runs scored, two doubles, a triple and three RBIs. Hurler Caleb Armour has logged the most innings for the Lions with 14.1 and is 0-0 with 17 strikeouts and a 3.14 ERA.

last time out… Siri-Jacob Ramirez smoked an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game at 10 for Prince George's Community College against CCBC Catonsville on Mar. 9. The game ended with the two teams tied at 10 after nine innings and could not go into extra innings due to darkness. After the Cardinals took a 10-9 lead in the top of the eighth inning, Dwayne Coleman reached on a single to left field and moved to second on a wild pitch before Ramirez drove the ball to the right-center gap to bring home Coleman with the tying run with no outs. A fly out moved Ramirez to third, but a pair of strikeouts ended the threat. Ramirez finished the afternoon 5-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored for the Owls while Dakota McFadden drilled a two-run homer and completed his afternoon with three RBIs and two runs scored. Thomas Thorgersen registered two hits and an RBI, and Brandon Crosby was an on-base machine with three walks, a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

next on tap… Prince George's returns home for a seven-game, four-team homestand while the Owls will play 10 of its next 11 games in Largo over the next 10 days. Hagerstown Community College begins the home stretch with a twinbill on Thursday before Finger Lakes Community College (Saturday) and CC of Allegheny County-South (Sunday) both come in for doubleheaders over the weekend while Harford Community College comes to town on Monday for a single game. After the squad travels to Anne Arundel Community College on Mar. 28, Prince George's returns home to host Cecil College on Mar. 30 and Montgomery College on Apr. 1.

weather interruptus… After being able to play the first 13 games of the schedule uninterrupted by weather, four-straight scheduled dates were postponed. The Owls were slated to play Garrett College in a doubleheader on Mar. 12, but cold temperatures forced the twinbill to be rescheduled for April 30 at 12 p.m. The storm that then came through the area moved the March 14 home game against Harford Community College to March 27 at 3:30 p.m. The two-game set against Garrett and the tilt against Harford will both be played in Largo while the game at Cecil on Mar. 16 and two-game set at Alleghany on Mar. 18 were slated to be the first two legs of a four-game road trip before the weather caused those two dates to be postponed. Make up dates to be announced for those two dates.
