Field Conditions Force Postponements Of Prince George's Baseball Contests At Cecil And Allegany

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College baseball game at Cecil College on Thursday and doubleheader at Allegany College of Maryland on Saturday have been postponed due to field conditions after the storm that blanketed the state of Maryland on Monday into Tuesday. Makeup dates and times to be announced.

After being able to play the first 13 games of the schedule uninterrupted by weather, the last four scheduled dates have been postponed. The Owls were slated to play Garrett College in a doubleheader on Sunday, but cold temperatures forced the twinbill to be rescheduled for April 30 at 12 p.m. The storm that came through the area this week moved Tuesday's home game against Harford Community College to March 27 at 3:30 p.m. The two-game set against Garrett and the tilt against Harford will both be played in Largo while the game at Cecil and two-game set at Alleghany were slated to be the first two legs of a four-game road trip before the weather caused those two dates to be postponed.

Prince George's is coming off a 10-all standstill against CCBC Catonsville on March 9. The game was halted due to darkness after nine innings. Siri-Jacob Ramirez smoked an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game at 10. After the Cardinals took a 10-9 lead in the top of the eighth inning, Dwayne Coleman reached on a single to left field and moved to second on a wild pitch before Ramirez drove the ball to the right-center gap to bring home Coleman with the tying run. Ramirez finished the afternoon 5-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored for the Owls while Dakota McFadden drilled a two-run homer and completed his afternoon with three RBIs and two runs scored. Thomas Thorgersen registered two hits and an RBI, and Brandon Crosby was an on-base machine with three walks, a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

The Owls are led by Crosby, who is hitting .543 with 25 hits, 18 runs scored, five doubles, a triple, 23 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. McFadden is second on the team with a .471 batting average, 16 hits, 13 runs scored, six doubles, a homer and 17 RBIs. McFadden also leads the pitching staff with a 2-1 record, 20 strikeouts and a 2.79 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched.

Prince George's will return to action with nine days rest thanks to the weather on Tuesday at CCBC Dundalk. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m. After the contest at CCBC Dundalk, the Owls will have a three-team, seven-game homestand starting with a doubleheader against Hagerstown Community College on March 23.
