The game ended with the two teams tied at 10 after nine innings and could not go into extra innings due to darkness. After the Cardinals took a 10-9 lead in the top of the eighth inning, Dwayne Coleman reached on a single to left field and moved to second on a wild pitch before Ramirez drove the ball to the right-center gap to bring home Coleman with the tying run with no outs. A fly out moved Ramirez to third, but a pair of strikeouts ended the threat. Ramirez finished the afternoon 5-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored for the Owls while Dakota McFadden drilled a two-run homer and completed his afternoon with three RBIs and two runs scored. Thomas Thorgersen registered two hits and an RBI, and Brandon Crosby was an on-base machine with three walks, a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.
