Prince George's Baseball Triples Up Orange County Community College In 2017 Home-Opening Weekend

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College baseball team swept a three-game series against Orange County Community College over the weekend. The Owls (9-0) defeated the Orange Colts (0-3) 10-2 in the 2017 home opener on Saturday and then won by the identical scores of 6-5 in a doubleheader sweep on Sunday.

In the 10-2 win, Prince George's used a two-run first, a four-run third and a three-run sixth in the 10-2 win. Kilian Bloat led the way with a 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored and an RBI while Bay To went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.  On the hill, Dakota McFadden allowed one run on one hit with five strikeouts to earn the win.

The Owls rallied from a 5-0 deficit after two innings by scoring a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth for the come-from-behind 6-5 victory to start the afternoon. Brandon Crosby recorded two RBIs along with a hit and a run scored while McFadden added a hit and two RBIs in the opener. Ryan Faircloth pitched the final three innings, allowing a hit with two strikeouts to pick up the victory.

Harold Marte went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a homer to propel Prince George's to a 6-5 win in the nightcap. To also went yard for the Owls and McFadden recorded two hits and a run. Kevin Kornieck pitched the final frame to earn the win on the hill. Prince George's scored four times in the first three innings to take a 4-2 lead and added two runs in the seventh before Orange County nearly rallied to tie the game after scoring three times in the seventh.

The Owls return to action on Saturday at home against Bergen Community College for a doubleheader. First pitch is 12 p.m.
