Owls Lose in Championship Game

Rockville, MD. - Owls baseball season came to an end in the Region XX DIII finals against Montgomery College on Monday, May 16, 2016.

The Owls got to the finals after beating Westmorland twice over the weekend in route to the finals against Montgomery. In game one, the Owls were the dominant team and was able to shut out Westmoreland 15-0 before dropping a game to Montgomery College 10-4. With this, the team had to face Westmoreland once again for the opportunity to play in the championship game. Again the Owls proved superior by beating them 18-5 to advance to the final.

In the finals, the Owls got off to a fast start with a 2 run homer in the 1st inning. Montgomery responded scoring four runs and took the 4-2 lead. The Owls were able to pull one back in the second to close the gap and put the pressure back on the home team in the 3rd inning. This score line stood until the 5th inning before Montgomery were able to grab an 8-3 lead off another home run.

Although the Owls scored another run and had the bases loaded in the 6th inning, Montgomery made timely defensive stops to win the game and end the Owls season by a final score of 8-4.
