Lions Win Game At Home

Your CCBC Dundalk Lions split the double header against the Prince George's Community College Owls 7-0, 11-8.

The Lions had a rough game one that started out with the Owls taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. In the bottom half of the 1st inning Chaney Skeans led off with a single. 

The problem was the Lions struggled to get on base besides Skeans who had 2 singles and a walk. The only other base runner was when Mike Newsome was hit by a pitch. The Lions were putting the ball in play, there was always a play to be made on the ball.

Lions lose 7-0.

Game two was started out the same with the Owls scoring in the top of the 1st. This time the Lions were able to answer back and tie the game after Trey Taliferro walked, stole second and had two separate passed balls.

After a 1-2-3 inning for both teams in the second the Owls retook the lead in the top of the 3rd 2-1. In the bottom of the 3rd the Lions answered again after a flurry of wild pitches and passed balls brought home four runs for the Lions. Lions up 5-2.

The Owls cut the lead in the top of the 4th 5-4.

The Lions had a monster inning in the 5th as the Owls struggles continued. The Lions had a man on second and third with two outs and the Owls committed an error to score the first run of the inning for the Lions. Bases were now loaded after Talifero walked. Kyle Hansel was then hit by a pitch to bring a runner home. Mykal Martin drew a walk to score the fourth run of the inning. A wild pitch scored another. Ben Hall hit a 2 RBI single to score Hansel and Martin and give the Lions a 11-4 lead.

The Owls were not done yet as they had a late surge in the 7th and scored 4 runs but the Lions were able to hold on to their lead and win 11-8.

The first game tomorrow against Chesapeake College has been pushed back to 2pm due to the impending weather forecasted.
