The Lions kick the new year off right winning their first game against Prince George's Community College Owls 103-79. The Lions are now 7-5 on the season, 3-2 in the conference and 6-0 at home.

Murray Grant started out on fire scoring 8 straight points giving the Lions the lead they would never lose. The Owls got on the board with a layup but Grant was not done, dishing an easy bucket to Antonio Jenkins and then making a layup of his own, Lions lead 12-2 with a little under 16 minutes left, Owls timeout. Grant would score 8 more points and record his first missed shot as the Lions lead was extended 20-4 6 minutes into the game. The Lions were up 27-9 but faltered as they gave up 10 straight points and called a timeout with 8:30 left in the first half. The Lions lead was cut to 5 but right as the gap was closing they found another gear and would go on a 17-5 run to go up 47-30. The Lions got the ball with 16 seconds left and almost turned it over but Avion Robinson recovered the ball and hoisted a 3 that got nothing but net and the Lions went into halftime up 52-35. Grant finished the half shooting 11 of 12 from the floor with 29 points. The Lions lead grew to 27 points with eight and a half minutes to go before the game finished with a final score of 103-79. The Lions had the lead for the entire game.

Murray Grant finished 13 of 15 from the floor leading the Lions with 36 points in 31 minutes. Avion Robinson was the second leading scorer with 17 points and led the Lions with 7 assists. Amear Johnson dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
