Baseball Takes on Prince George's

Friday afternoon the men's baseball team traveled to Price George's County Community College in a NJCAA Region 20 match up.

The Wolfpack jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead after the first inning and a half, before the Owls scored 7 runs in the bottom of the second leading to the Wolfpack loosing 13-10.  Despite the loss, Wolfpack did collect 15 hits in the high-scoring affair. Dom Koch (3), Aidan McLaughlin (3), Jake Piktel (2), Cameron DePalma (2), Brayden Patton (2), and Ronnie Howard (2) each had multiple hits for Wolfpack.  Piktel led the Wolfpack with 3 RBI's while Patton and DePalma drove in 2 runs each, and Ben Anderson, Koch, and McLaughlin all knocked in a run a piece.
 
Cam Depalma and Chaz Lankey teamed up to pitch all six innings, with DePalama took the loss for Wolfpack. Depalma surrendered ten runs on ten hits over three innings, striking out one. While over his three innings, Lankey was solid letting up 3 runs on 3 hits during his three innings pitched.
 
 
In game 2 the Wolfpack lost the lead late in a 7-4 defeat to Prince George's community college.  The game was tied at four with Prince George's community college batting in the bottom of the sixth when Bernie Spady singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
 
 
Jared Wagner who pitched all 6 innings of game two, unfortunately Wagner was tagged with the loss.  The righthander lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out four and walking zero.
 
 
Jake Piktel went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Wolfpack in hits, while Howard, Anderson, Koch, DePalma, and Patton each collected a hit each.  Patton plated 2 runners, while Koch and Piktel brought home the other two runs for the Wolfpack.
 
Next up for the Westmoreland will be a home game on Tuesday against WPCC Conference rival CCAC at Westmoreland.  This will be a single game, with the first pitch being at 4pm, at Westmoreland.  The game will be live streamed on the Wolfpack Athletics Facebook page starting at 3:45pm.
