Prince George’s Hall of Fame Mission/Vision Statement

Prince George’s Community College intercollegiate athletes started in the fall of 1967. The college has had a basketball program since the inception of Prince George’s Community College at Suitland High School in the fall of 1957.

Prince George’s Community College’s mission is to transform students’ lives. For the last 50 years, those students have transformed intercollegiate athletics into a thriving and successful program. As we head into the next 50 years of intercollegiate athletics, we look to continue to transform lives with the inception of an Athletics Hall of Fame.

The concept of a Hall of Fame comes from the desire to; 1) preserve the history of athletics at Prince George’s Community College; 2) identify and recognize the accomplishments and contributions of individuals and teams; 3) promote the heritage of intercollegiate athletics at Prince George’s Community; 4) continue celebration of the “Past, Present and Future.”

The long overdue undertaking will record the 50-year rich history of Prince George’s Community College athletics as well as identify and recognize the outstanding teams, players, coaches, athletic administrators and persons who have made significant contributions to Prince George’s athletics. In addition, these recognitions are for the purpose of honoring and perpetuating the individuals who have excelled and provide our students with examples of what to dream and aspire to be.

The design of the Prince George’s Community College Athletics Hall of Fame is not only to identify and honor the elite participants. There will be multiple achievements and contribution categories, each one has fitting criteria.

The leadership design will include a committee that consists of the athletics director, sports information specialist, former student-athletes, athletic historians and contributors to Prince George’s athletics.

It is the hope that everyone who has been involved with Prince George’s Community College athletics will value and share the spirit of the Prince George’s Community College Athletics Hall of Fame which will stand as “A Lasting Memory to Prince George’s Athletics Traditions and Success.”
