Men’s Soccer Players Earns Accolades

Although the Owls men’s soccer team fell short of going to Nationals by losing in double overtime of the Region XX DIII Championship game, the 2015 season could be viewed as another successful year for the program. With top talent from the county joining the Owls, the team posted a 14-6-2 overall record and five players picked up Regional and MDJUCO accolades along the way.

Angelo Ridore a freshman from High Point High School was huge for the Owls on the season and played in every game. He recorded 18 goals and 10 assist and had two game winning goals on the season.

Kelly Marah a freshman from Laurel High School was the leading scorer for the Owls with 22 goals and chipped in with 5 assist. He is ranked second in the Conference with goals and third in overall points.

Kevin Chavez is a second year player, play maker and team captain for the Owls who attended DuVal High School. He had 5 goals and racked up 9 assist on the season. His 9 assist ties him for 5th in the conference.

Celio “Willie Boy” Grice is a 6’4 freshman defender who attended Parkdale High School. He has a commanding presence that anchored the Owls back line the entire season. He started 20 of the Owls 22 games and only missed one game on the season.

Temitope “Tommy” Adetunji is a sophomore midfielder and a top ball winner in the conference. He is a two year starter and contributed offensively with 1 goal and 9 assist on the season. He started 18 games and was a vital part of the team’s overall success on the year.

These players have now joined the exclusive club of All Region and All MDJUCO Conference players that have represented the program over the years. With this, the Athletic Department wants to congratulate these student athletes for their commitment, dedication and work ethic for the 2015 soccer season.
