Prince George's Athletics Unveils 50th Anniversary Logo; Alumni Day Set For Afternoon Of September 30

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College athletics department has unveiled the logo for the athletics' 50th Anniversary celebration. In conjunction with this celebration, there will be special 50th Anniversary events planned throughout the season.

The 50th Anniversary logo features the number 50 along with the Prince George's Community College athletics logo. Underneath the number and logo features the years 1968 and 2018, representing the first season of intercollegiate athletics at Prince George's Community College (1967-68) and the 50th Anniversary season (2017-18). A 50th-anniversary patch will be affixed on a Prince George's uniform for each sport to wear during the season.

The 50th Anniversary Of Prince George's Athletics: A Celebration Of The Past, Present And Future will kick off with an Alumni Day on Saturday, September 30. Alumni Day will start with alumni games from 2-4 p.m. and followed by a picnic at the Picnic Grove on campus.

Prince George's Community College first opened its doors on the campus of Suitland High School in 1957 before relocating to the Largo campus in the fall of 1967. During the college's tenure at Suitland High School, Prince George's fielded a men's basketball program. When the college moved to its current location, the birth of the intercollegiate athletics program was formed with the purpose of gender equity. The college joined the National Junior College Athletic Association in 1967. The athletic department currently sponsors seven intercollegiate programs, including the defending NJCAA Region XX Champion men's  soccer and baseball programs and the defending Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference Tournament men's basketball team.
