Prince George's Athletics Department Holds Annual End Of The Year Banquet

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College athletics department hosted its annual End Of The Year Banquet in the Novak Field House on May 17. During the banquet, the athletics department announced the Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year, the Academic Excellence Award, the Owl Dedication Award and the Team Most Valuable Player/Unsung Hero.

Gina Seifert, a member of the Prince George's women's basketball team, was named the Female Student-Athlete of the Year. Seifert received the honor after pushing herself in the classroom, on the court and for her contributions to athletics. She supported her fellow student-athletes by going to athletic events while also volunteering her time to assist the athletic department. On the court, Seifert averaged 11.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game and was selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XX All-Tournament team. Last year, her sister Lisa received the award.

Brandon Crosby, a member of the Owls baseball team, was named the Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Crosby was a leader on and off the diamond while also balancing his academics and work schedule. He paced NJCAA Division III in stolen bases and was named to both the All-Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference and the NJCAA Division III All-Region XX first teams, and he helped the squad to the NJCAA Division III Region XX and NJCAA Division III District D Championships to claim a spot in the NJCAA Division III World Series.

The Academic Excellence Award is presented to a student-athlete that has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher. The Academic Excellence Award was given to Druex Collins (track and field), James Hagins (men's basketball), Michael Hovermill, Jr. (baseball), Ian Kisakye (men's soccer), Jonathan Mahoney (baseball), Gina Seifert (women's basketball), Lisa Seifert (women's basketball), Dominique Smith (women's basketball), Fredy Roque (men's soccer), Dexter Turner (men's basketball), Bryan Waltemath (baseball) and Abdel Yauoubou (men's soccer).

The Owl Dedication Award is awarded to a student-athlete that participate for two years of an intercollegiate sport at Prince George's Community College:
Men's Soccer: Elihu Dorbi, Dan Ebisawa, Ian Kisakye, Komlan Kouhiko, Urich Ndip, Fernando Ordonio, Jose Pacheco, Fredy Roque, Austin Wall-Lytle, Walid Yacoubou
Women's Basketball: Ivie Foster, Lisa Seifert
Men's Basketball: Kenneth Pettaway
Baseball: Kilian Bloat, Jared Davis, Kevin Korneick, Jonathan Mahoney, Quentin Rohrbaugh, Thomas Thorgersen, James Wilcox III
Track and Field: Druex Collins
